Nestled on the edge of a leadwood and figtree forest, overlooking the vast Khwai River floodplains and beyond into the Moremi Wildlife Reserve, lies KHWAI RIVER LODGE, where we will arrive at approximately 2:00pm.  This area is close to Africa's heartbeat, at the center of a world that has not altered much since life began. You can sense the big game heritage from the moment we arrive.Khwai is world-renowned for its large concentrations of big mammals such as elephant, buffalo, lion, leopard, cheetah and wild dog, and it is not unusual to see many of these animals from the privacy of the individual tent decks.  As wildlife is found here throughout the year, their predators are also active year round, making Khwai one of the most sought after locations for viewing wildlife and the perennial drama of the African bushveld. Birdlife is also abundant with exceptional sightings of raptors.Activities offered at the camp include morning and afternoon game drives in open Land cruisers, as well as after-dark spotlight game drives.  A cultural visit to the local village can be arranged, as well as guided safari walks along the Khwai River. The tent interiors are luxuriously appointed with such comforts as an en-suite bathroom, private fully stocked mini bar, netted four-poster bed, and air conditioning.  In-room safes are provided for the convenience of guests. The public areas feature a heated swimming pool inside and outside fireplaces, and a secluded viewing hide just off the public area.  For those wishing to enjoy further pampering, the lodge has a 'Naturally Wild' gym and spa facility. Guests are able to enjoy indulgent massages and body wraps in the spa or in the privacy of their own tent. The senses are awakened…and impressions formed here will stay with you forever.  Driving through the bush into a herd of elephant, the sound of lion roaring in the distance, a family of baboons squabbling across the river, and the lullaby of nesting birds are to name but a few.  The luxurious comfort of the camps and the friendliness of the staff all contribute to an unforgettable experience and that very special freedom that comes from “getting away from it all.”

After a morning activity, we are transferred by shared light aircraft to the Savute region in the heart of the Chobe National Park, an area known as the elephant capital of the world.  The time of departure from Khwai River Lodge will be advised locally. The flying time is approximately 20 minutes and arrival is at approximately 2:00pm.

Luxury Twin Tent Accommodations, fully inclusive basis (excluding French champagne) with game viewing activities

Perched on the banks of the flowing Savute Channel, with an elevated view of the river (formerly a well-populated elephant waterhole!), SAVUTE ELEPHANT CAMP is a spectacular base from which to explore the area. Drama unfolds here daily with interactions between the high concentrations of elephant, the lion prides (sometimes up to 40 strong), the endangered wild dog, leopard, cheetah and the hyena.Savute is also unrivaled for its sightings of excellent predator / prey interaction and is a ‘must stay’ on any Southern Africa safari.  Whether you visit in the winter or summer Savute will never disappoint. Savute is also renowned for its excellent birding during the summer months (December through March), as well as being home to some very rare rock paintings by Bushmen who once inhabited the region, and its little forests of ancient Baobabs.  At Savute Elephant Camp the style and décor of the central guest areas and the spacious tents are a fusion of old world safari and modern day luxury. All luxury tents are housed on raised wooden platforms, offering great views, and shaded by a traditional African thatch roof.  The large private decks are furnished with easy chairs and a hammock, and are ideal for viewing wildlife.  Tent interiors are luxuriously appointed with such comforts as an en suite bathroom, private fully stocked mini bar, four posted bed complete with neeting, as well as air conditioning. In the evenings, a camp fire is prepared in the traditional Boma.  This is where guests can relax in the evening and swap safari experiences while marveling over the stars in the vast African night sky.  We’ll be treated to delicious cuisine created by the skilled in-house chefs.

Exclusive Belmond amenity includes complimentary private sundowner cocktails.

At approximately 12:00 noon, we will be transferred by shared light aircraft to Kasane Airport for a short immigration stop. The Ra-Ikane is a small, luxury cruise boat that is outfitted to suggest, in exquisite detail, an ambiance of a bygone era.  Period décor historic memorabilia, fine cuisine and refreshments characterize a level of comfort and grace unsurpassed on the Zambezi.  Due to the relatively small size of the Ra-Ikane, the craft can maneuver in and around the various river inlets, venturing where the larger boats cannot reach.  This often provides guests with wildlife sightings from shipside, which can include elephant, crocodile, hippo and a myriad of bird species.  It is a photographer’s paradise.  Afterwards, we’ll return to the hotel for an evening at leisure and perhaps a nightcap.

At leisure until departure.   Late morning, we will gather in the hotel reception, where our Belmond representative is waiting to transfer us to the Victoria Falls Airport, approximately 20 minutes driving time away, for a scheduled flight to Johannesburg. SINGITA BOULDERS LODGE has a contemporary air of tranquillity that honours Africa in an authentic way.
